Alumnus Dr. Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu returned to GSPIA after spending the last two years creating and implementing reform policies as the first Governor of Niger State, the largest district in the country of Nigeria. He is the first governor to be democratically elected in the nation’s history. Dr. Aliyu was the guest speaker at GSPIA’s Graduation Luncheon on Friday, April 24. Coleen Rowley, former FBI chief counsel and 9/11 whistleblower, participated in a breakfast lecture as part of the inaugural Lecture on Exemplary Leadership. Rowley was named Time’s 2002 Co-person of the Year for her efforts to uncover missteps in the FBI prior to 9/11. To see the lecture, click here.

GSPIA Honors An American Hero – General Roscoe Robinson Jr.

In a standing-room only event, held March 27, GSPIA honored the legacy of General Roscoe Robinson Jr., the first African-American four star general in the United States Army. Wesley W. Posvar Hall, room 3800, was named the Robinson Room in commemoration of his accomplishments.
Major General Edward Atkeson, a personal friend and classmate of Robinson's, delivered the inaugural Lecture on Public Service and Diversity. Mildred Robinson, widow of General Roscoe Robinson, added to the ceremony by telling a personal story about her husband's dedication and passion for his service to his country.
