The Distinguished Alumni Award is given to outstanding alumni who have made a significant impact to public service through their professional accomplishments and who exemplify the mission of the school. The first Distinguished Alumni Award was given to Ralph B. Swisher (PhD '73) in 1979.

GSPIA's distinguished alumni represent the diversity of career paths available to students upon graduation - our alumni have held careers in the public, private, nonprofit, and government sectors, and each of our distinguished alumni provide a wonderful example of leadership roles in different organizations and regions around the world.

Recognizing that our alumni have made a difference locally, nationally, and internationally, in 2008 GSPIA will begin honoring three alumni per year, each one representing a career that is either local, national, or international in scope. Two of the three awards for 2008 have already been given, but GSPIA will honor the third award recipient at our 50th anniversary celebration in October... don't miss it!
