2017 Johnson Institute for Responsible Leadership Exemplary Leadership Award

Jim Withers, M.D., Operation Safety Net
Tuesday, March 28, 2017
4:30-6:00 p.m.
Frick Fine Arts Building, 125 Lecture Hall

Dr. Withers’ selfless efforts through Operation Safety Net have saved lives and conveyed a message of hope to the most marginalized and isolated members of our community. Moreover, he has steadfastly adhered to the principle of meeting people where they are, listening to their needs, and delivering services in a manner that is completely devoid of judgement or pity. He treats his patients with dignity and respect, securing their trust. Not only has Dr. Withers blazed a trail here in Pittsburgh by providing medical treatment to the homeless, he has institutionalized the practice of “street medicine” in medical schools and has helped establish organizations that provide medical care for the homeless across the US and the world.

RSVP to gspiaji@pitt.edu or 412-648-1336. Event is free and open to the public. Parking available at Soldiers and Sailors Garage.
